“Biziker really helps me
maintain my work-life balance”
I invented Biziker to meet like-minded people when travelling on business. I have been myself travelling extensively for business, and could often experience how lonely this job can be. There are many websites to find a place to go out, but none to invite you to join a group of business people to have a nice time after work. Now we have Biziker!
I run a small but successful business dealing principally with Dutch companies. I have some employees based in the Netherlands but when I have spent most of the day and some evenings with employees, I feel I would like to meet some new people, perhaps people that share the same challenges of running their own business. The Biziker events are good for that. I have found there is someone who does very similar trips to me on a regular basis and we can now keep in touch and catch up regularly.
I have just started international travel for my company – I work publishing and recently got a promotion which meant I had to start to be responsible for particular markets in countries I do not know very well. I am from a small town and most of my trips are to cities. The companies I visit are small and not used to entertaining people from overseas, so I have found myself unfamiliar cities and slightly reluctant to go out on my own. The Biziker dinners suit me perfectly – I have picked up hints and tips about business travel which will be really helpful for the future.
I spent many years working for a major multinational travelling to London where social events were always organised for me. When I moved, the organisation I work for had an entirely different approach and I find I am now in the Big Smoke with no-one to enjoy it with. Having been used to networking and socialising in the evenings, I find the Biziker events a welcome relief. They cater for everyone, generally in reasonably priced places which also show off the City sights.
I am a self-employed project manager and I now spend most of my time working on contracts which are away from home. This means during the week, I ‘live in’ where my contracts are situated and I commute back home for the weekends. I find sometimes I just want to work long and late hours to get the job done and often I go out with the team to talk about issues and problems. At other times, I just want to socialise and not be with colleagues who talk about work and for that the Biziker events are perfect. I have also met other project managers who are in the same boat, it has really helped with my work/life balance.
Biziker is a great way to meet and get to know fellow business travellers. I have met so many interesting people with diverse experiences to share.
