About BIZIKER
Q: What is Biziker?A: Biziker is a social networking community for everyone who would like to build their professional network of contacts whilst travelling. Our main aim is to bring people who are travelling to the same destination on business together for a social event. Having experienced the lonely aspects of business travel first hand, we have created this online community to make it easier for people to meet each other whilst travelling and build a professional network. Please bear in mind that we are principally travelling for business purposes, so don't expect us to provide ideas for going out all night, but we will introduce you to other travellers for a dinner or some other social activity for a pleasant and informal evening.
Biziker is also a very good way of staying in touch with your existing personal networks and letting your friends and colleagues know where you are travelling to.
Q: How do I join Biziker?A: Anyone who wants to build their network of professional contacts whilst travelling can join. There are several links throughout the site which will lead you to the registration process. On the Home Page, the easiest place is the 'Sign Up and Join' box. You can also go to the 'Taking Part' section and enter the section called 'Becoming a Member'. You will find easy to follow instructions on how to become a member there. All you need to do is submit your details and once the Biziker team has approved your membership, your membership is live and you are ready to start Biz-hiking!
You can choose between Basic membership (free to join and 'pay-as-you-go' for events) or Premium membership giving you free access to as many Biziker events as you like. Companies or organisations can also contact us directly for details of corporate membership.
Q: What else does Biziker offer?A: Biziker is first and foremost a network to help business travellers meet, share experiences, information and tips, and make new friends. But we also want Biziker to help your trip run more smoothly by providing information about your travel destination. Initially we will publish details of trade events in key cities but we also plan to include short reviews of other public events such as sports, music or theatre and ultimately something for everyone wherever they are travelling in the world.
Q: What type of people will I meet at Biziker?A: Biziker has been created for anyone who wants to build their network whilst travelling on business, so you may meet professional people working in all kinds of businesses and functions; sales, marketing, purchasing, consultancy, publishing. Whoever you meet, we hope you will be able to learn from each other's experiences, whatever their business. We always approve all new members and will investigate potentially suspicious subscriptions.
About Events
Q: What sort of events does Biziker organise?A: To start with, we plan to organise informal suppers for small groups. Much depends on where you, the Biziker members take the community as it is also for you to choose what you would like to do. As the Biziker membership grows, we plan to run larger dinners, eventually leading to outings or activities such as a trip up the Eiffel Tower or an evening out ten-pin bowling. Members can also suggest their own events: why not invite your new friends to go shopping, or to watch the live final of a sporting championship?
Biziker also organises professional events, seminars and team training... please contact the Biziker Team directly for further details.
Q: How can I take part in events?A: When you update your agenda, you will be able to view all planned events. Click on each event to see the full details. To take part in an event, click BOOK IN.
Note: if you have to cancel your booking, we would be grateful if you could visit the event online and click CHECK OUT. This will prevent other members from waiting for you. If you have to cancel at the last minute, please inform the people you were due to meet (their contact number will be on the final confirmation you will have received by email or SMS).
Q: How can I make sure I am kept up-to-date with details of Biziker events?A: You can access information about events already planned either by browsing online according to city or by clicking on 'Events' in your 'My Trips'. If events are organised after you have marked a destination in your calendar (typically because you are the first person to register a trip to this destination and an event will only be suggested when a second member also shares their plans to travel to the same destination), you will receive an update via email.
Q: May I organise events myself?A: Of course! If you know of good venues or social activities, and you want to suggest it to the Biziker community, we strongly encourage you to do so. Click on the link 'Add / New Event' and type in the information. The Biziker Team will then approve your suggestion so that it is there for all members to see.
Q: What happens if people cancel their participation in Biziker events?A: As a courtesy, we would hope that a member will inform us if a cancellation is necessary. Courtesy is one of the Biziker values outlined in the Biziker Principles section.
If a cancellation is made far enough in advance, (at least the day before), all those taking part in the event will be notified. If there were only two participants booked, the event will be cancelled. For last minute cancellations, members should use the information sent by email/SMS a few hours previously to inform the other participating members.
If an event is cancelled, basic members who have paid the 'pay-as-you-go' fee will be credited t a another event.
About Networking
Q: How do I share information with my contacts?A: You can use the 'send details to a friend' function to invite friends to join Biziker and/or Biziker events. You can also send messages to other members using your personal Contacts section.
Q: What do I do if a member of Biziker behaves inappropriately?A: The Biziker values are outlined in the Biziker principles section and we ask members to take them very seriously. We also ask all Biziker members to comply with our rules which are outlined in our user terms and conditions. If you are faced with any inappropriate behaviour, you are invited to report it to the Biziker team by searching the member and clicking on 'Report inappropriate behaviour' on that member's page. Try to be as precise as possible when reporting a member, so the Biziker Team can take the most appropriate action.
About Membership
Q: What is Corporate membership?A: Corporate membership is available for companies with large numbers of employees travelling overseas on business frequently. It offers the same features as Premium membership, but also gives access to corporate events, that may be organised either by the Biziker Team or by the member company. This feature aims to help employees develop their internal network and also supports an organisation's internal communications. It is also a useful tool for organising events when several employees are travelling to the same destination (Sometimes, when several employees are travelling from different locations to the headquarters, and are from different services or business units it may be the case that they travel alone and nothing will be organised for them at the end of the working day.)
Corporate membership is usually agreed with the company, who provides a list of employees who will be registered as members.
Q: What is Club membership?A: Club Membership features will be launched in the near future. This membership is similar to Corporate membership. It is intended for members belonging to a large club or organisation. In addition to Biziker events already open to members, “Club events” will be reserved for people belonging to the same club or organisation.
Q: Do I have to renew my membership?A: Basic membership is permanent (unless you cancel it). Premium membership is renewed automatically every month (or quarter or year, depending on your initial subscription) until you change or cancel it. Corporate membership is renewed annually through a contractual agreement with the company.
Q: Can I change my membership after I have joined?A: You can upgrade your membership from the 'Account & Profile / Membership' page. Just click on the option you require and confirm. If you have upgraded to Premium membership, you will be forwarded to a secure online payment page to confirm your payment.
Q: How do I cancel my membership?A: We hope you will enjoy being part of the Biziker community, but if you want to cancel your membership you just need to go to the 'Account & Profile / Membership' page and click on 'Cancel'. Premium members will be redirected to the secure online payment page to confirm the cancellation.
